SAFETY IN SCIENCE

SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS
Although the SCIENCE FANTASTIC workshops operate using reasonably safe materials, the misuse or mismanagement of materials and directions may create a source of hazard for students. It is important to discuss behaviour and safety strategies with your class prior to the workshop to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment. In all cases, please follow the set Workplace Health and Safety requirements of you school.

The following rules are to be known and followed by students prior to the commencement of the SCIENCE FANTASTIC workshop:

• Do not attempt any part of any experiment without reading all the instructions carefully
• Only do what the instructions tell you.
• If you do not understand something - ask!
• Do not consume any chemicals or other substances
• Do not act in a hazardous or dangerous manner
• Report all accidents or breakages
• Remeber the 2S Rule - Act SAFE and SENSIBLE
• Replace all equipment back where you found it
